ELabel24 is a platform that helps winemakers comply with the new EU wine labeling requirements digitally and in a legally compliant manner. The product was developed in collaboration with FairGrapes GmbH and is now used by over 200 wineries.

With the introduction of the new EU wine labeling regulations on December 8, 2023, winemakers, wineries, and retailers are facing new challenges. Nutritional information and ingredient lists must be digitally available and accessible via QR codes on the label. At the time of the project's launch, there was no established, user-friendly solution for this new requirement. Many small and medium-sized businesses were confronted with uncertainty and significant organizational effort. ELabel24 was developed in collaboration with FairGrapes to address exactly this challenge. The goal was to create a platform that offers winemakers a simple, legally compliant, and centrally manageable solution to meet the regulation. No technical expertise is required, and administrative effort remains minimal.

The goal of the project was to develop a digital solution that allows winemakers to fully comply with the new EU labeling regulations. This includes providing nutritional information, ingredients, and recycling details for the materials used. The application was designed to be user-friendly, requiring no technical knowledge, while keeping the effort minimal and ensuring usability for businesses of all sizes. At the same time, it was important to create a system that could evolve and remain adaptable to future industry requirements.

The biggest challenge was the complex and sometimes unclear interpretation of the EU regulation. There were no standardized technical requirements, and many detailed questions arose regarding the presentation requirements, such as how ingredients, nutritional values, or recycling information should be structured and displayed. Additionally, there was the challenge of designing the platform to work seamlessly for both technically inexperienced users and larger businesses with established workflows. The user interface had to be as intuitive as possible, and the processes had to be streamlined to reduce complexity. FairGrapes, as a partner, brought extensive industry knowledge that helped translate requirements into practical solutions and implement them realistically. Combined with legal advice and a step-by-step development process, we were able to meet both technical and legal requirements reliably, resulting in a well-structured and user-friendly application.

ELabel24 was developed as a web application. Users can register, add their wines, and enter the required information for each product, such as ingredients, nutritional values, and packaging details. Based on this data, a legally compliant, EU-conform product page is automatically generated, accessible via a QR code. Additionally, multiple e-labels can be combined into a single collective QR code. This is particularly useful for price lists or presentations featuring several wines. The application is intentionally streamlined and clearly structured. It can be used without training and operates reliably in everyday use, even with a large number of products and without any technical knowledge.
